For the detection of gluten content in food

INTENDED USE

Due to the prevalence of Coeliac Disease it is becoming increasingly important to test for the presence of Gluten in foods to ensure that accurate labelling information is provided on food products.
The BIOKITS Gluten Assay kit is intended for use in the detection and quantification of gluten at very low concentrations in uncooked and cooked foods.

THE ASSAY

The assay utilises monoclonal antibodies to omega Gliadin protein in a non-competitive, sandwich type ELISA. The ready to use standards provide accurate quantification in parts per million (ppm). Food samples are extracted with a specially formulated buffer, diluted and then tested in the assay.

SUITABILITY

Suitable for testing for wheat gluten in a wide range of uncooked/cooked/processed foods/raw materials and environmental swabs taken with the BIOKITS Allergen Swabbing Kit (BASK; Cat. No. 901042J).

VALIDATION
  • As well as wheat gliadin, similar proteins from durum wheat (40-60%), triticale, rye (110-130%) and barley (4-8%) are detected. Oats, maize, rice and millet are undetected.
  • The BIOKITS Gluten Assay Kit correctly identified the spiked and unspiked gluten in representative matrices. In spike (20ppm) recovery investigations the mean recovery was found to be 70.3%.
  • Compatible with the BIOKITS Allergen Swabbing Kit (BASK; Cat. No. 901042J) down to at least 5ug / 25 cm2 Gluten.
