Enumeration of Staphylococcus aureus. Complete results in 24 hr

Intended Use: RAPID'Staph agar is a selective medium used for the direct enumeration of coagulase-positive staphylococci (Staphylococcus aureus and other species) at 37°C in 24 hr in products intended for human or animal consumption and in environmental samples. Presumptive colonies can be confirmed using one of the following:

• Pastorex™ Staph Plus latex test with results within minutes
• Spot on Baird-Parker + RPF agar, which confirms many colonies on the same plate

Principle: The principle of RAPID'Staph medium is based on an optimized Baird-Parker formula to guarantee the detection and the enumeration of Staphylococcus aureus in 24 hr.
Typical staphylococci produce gray to black shiny and convex colonies (1–2 mm) with a clear halo around the colony (2–5 mm) due to proteolysis of the egg yolk.
